how do I calculate fielding percentage?

It is calculated by the sum of putouts and assists divided by the number of total chances.

Dont bother it will not tell you anything. Look up "the fielding bible" or look for Clay Davenports defensive statistics.

(assists + putouts) / (assists + putouts + errors)
