Because to a heterosexual person(well for some of them) it doesn't seem right and they don't think that it is apropriate.. basically they don't care if they hurt someones feelings just because they are different, they don't respect the fact that some one prefers the same sex that they are. its hard for some people to get use to that fact. i agree it is very rude. some people are just really dumb and are assholes.

Did you ever notice that Jay Leno makes a lot of really inappropriate cheap shots when it comes to gay people? One joke was so lame I couldn't get over it. It was as if he pulled it out of a joke book from the 1950s. It had to do with how gay men wear pink all the time. Personally, I like Family Guy but it can be offensive but not just toward gay people. I do laugh at offensive things but there is a point where I just want them to move on an make jokes about other topics. I don't like when one 'group' is singled out more often than others. Offensive jokes about different races can be funny but I do get uncomfortable after awhile when the jokes go on for too long.
If we're going to make fun of people, we have to make fun of everyone equally.

I am a straight Christian and I don't find it funny at all to make fun of anybody. Making fun of someone is not only rude and mean, but it is terribly immature and shows a lack of class and character. I try to treat others the way I would want to be treated and I believe that every human being on the face of this planet deserves to be treated with basic respect. I thank you for this question because you are right. Whether one agrees or disagrees with someone's sexual orientation/lifestyle, it is terribly mean to make jokes at someone else's expense. You have made a valid point.

It's the media's fault- it's built a very entertaining stereotype and ignored as a result the whole range of "homosexual" possibilities. It's that and the conditioned idea that homosexuality is unnatural. The media is so pervasive, that people fashion their identities from it, much more so now than 20 years ago. I hope eventually people will see through these stereotypes, primarily by understanding that homosexuals have identities far beyond their sexuality and sexual orientation.

ilive in a closed minded midwest town that has so little diversity. the only kind of diversity we have are the GSA which is being attacked in any way possible and the foreign exchange students from Korea and Russia. thats it. everyone else is like a carbon copy of the other and anyone different such as myself and my friends are ridiculed every day. i'm labeled as an angry person because people are always judging.

i don't know. i don't support being "gay or lesbian" but i think it's retarded when people try to make cheap shots at gays and lesbians. They aren't the only ones though. People make fun of certain ethnicities, like Santo Domingan. i feel bad sometimes because those people are my own friends and i try to convince them that stereotyping is wrong but they don't really care.

i think that you should lighten up. Comedians and people in general make fun of EVERYONE , not just homos. Homos are easy targets. they dont act like anyone else in society. they think they are acting and talking like women but they are in a class of their own, and draw attention to themselves by being so "flamboyant". they're like clowns.
of course not all homos are like that. but its the flamers that make it easy for homos to be made fun of.
