Consider that since 1962, federal revenue from progressive taxes (in which higher income people pay a higher tax percentage than lower income) dropped by 17%. Federal income from regressive taxes (which place a higher burden on those with lower income) increased by 135%. Since 1980, taxes on inheritance and investment have dropped by 31% while taxes on income derived from work have increased by 25%. Between 2000 and 2003, corporations (the institutions that perpetuate and insulate the plutocracy) saw their contribution to federal revenue through taxes fall by 36%. Bush's corporate tax cuts of 2002 and 2003 made this corporate wet dream possible. His individual tax cuts between 2002 and 2004 were a propaganda ploy to buy votes and ensure that the financial oligarchy retained a strangle-hold on the US government. Average working Americans received rebate checks of $400.00. $600 billion dollars in tax cuts went to those earning more than $288,000 per year. To ice the cake, the wealthiest 1% of Americans received $197 billion dollars in additional tax breaks. That means that each of those lucky plutocrats enjoyed a staggering $56.3 million in tax relief, but don't worry. In theory, they put that money back into the economy and it will "trickle down" to the rest of us. I have not been trickled upon yet. Have you?

Stupidity? Trickle down economics creates a nation of peons. These people don't understand economics but do understand guns, gays and God so they vote according to those issues.

I'd love to some sources for this little rant. If I understand you you are saying the rich don't pay their "fair share". How about this;December 15 brought the largest ever single day corporate tax receipts ($73 billion). This broke the previous record set in September 2006 ($72 billion).
From this; http://www.treas.gov/press/releases/hp224.htm

Or how about this
http://www.house.gov/jec/news/news2006/pr109-94.pdf

The top 25% of wage earners(people/ families who make $60,041.00 or more) pay 84.86% of of the Federal income taxes paid.

I don't believe in socialism and if you want the people who have had the drive, brains and will to make something of themselves be punished for going to school, working hard and living the American dream then maybe you should take a boat ride to Cuba and see how the other system works.

Considering the US in enjoying the longest Bull Market in 80 years, lower un-employment than anytime in the last 25 years, with very low inflation, and US Companies making record profits.

I'd say it probably has trickled down to you, -- you may be too ungrateful or blind to realize it however. You seem to be one of these people who spend more time feeling sorry for yourself, and what a VICTIM you are, when there is opportunity all around you! IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN AN ECONOMY LIKE THIS ONE, YOU NEED TO TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT YOURSELF, and quite blaming others.

Like the answer below mine, I've definately been "trickled down" on, but just like anyone, I had to walk to the shower, it was certainly not going to walk to me.

Because they don't believe in socialism

Because they do believe one should be rewarded for success rather than punished for it.

They hope one day to be one of the wealthy through hard work and ingenuity and perhaps a little luck.

They understand that everyone is economically opressed by socialism.

And, yeah, I've been trickled on but I had to actually get up and walk to the shower.

Many economically oppressed people aren't very well-educated, so they fall for whatever propaganda sounds good to them. Unfortunately, if you simply tell some people that you love God, hate gays, and love guns, that's enough to win some people's votes.
