My daughter was born at home, I have no regrets at all, and would have future children at home, unless there were signs of serious medical problems.
Given that 2nd and subsequent babies often arrive faster than 1st babies do, I think its wise of you to consider that you might give birth at home, since your first labour was so short. Also, its especially good to plan for a possible home birth if you live a long distance from your nearest hospital.
I think having a midwife at home to help you is a good idea, but depending on where you live you might find this difficult, as for example in some states of America its illegal for midwives to attend homebirths.
If you're thinking of giving birth at home with just you and your partner, no midwife, the terms often used for that are "freebirth" or "unassisted birth".
I've put some links below about homebirth and freebirth that might be of interest to you!

i have had 3 home births, my last 1 was just 7 wks ago and personally i have no regrets ,
i had a long labour with my last baby started Monday and finally gave birth Wednesday night, i had 24hr care from the midwives, they left me for awhile to give me some space but were only 5Min's away should i need them. the 1 thing about home births that really appeals is you get 100% time and attention from the midwives.
we sat around watching TV ,talking and drinking coffee!!
having my children at home was the best experience Ive ever had if you would like to ask me any Q's feel free to email me

I'm planning on giving birth at home in the next few weeks.
My reasons are that it'll be easier than looking for a sitter for my toddler, finding someone to look after the cats, and the fact i can get in my own bath and crawl into my own bed afterwards.
Plsu the birthing center and hospital around near me don't offer epidurals at all. I'd rather stay at home and have the same few forms of pain relief in comfort, than go to a hospital/birthing center with the same few drugs and be uncomfortable.
The people I have spokne to regarding it say it's usually a much calmer experience, which they believe made it easier for them during labour. Finger crossed eh?

Just get good prenatal care. Most complications can be predicted ahead of time. I had three kids in the birth center and one in the car. I never had a hospital birth. Most people are happy with their homebirth. Get a good midwife who knows what she is doing.

I have never had one, however this is my third pregnancy and I plan to have this one at home. I'm about 3 weeks away so if you ask again in a few weeks I'll try to let you know how things went! I am so excited. I hated having kids in the hospitals. Drs and nurses were rude and blah blah blah. Anyway, birthing centers are real nice, however, I want to do it here, where I am most comfortable and used to.

Well I was preg. with my 5th baby and my water broke and I had no signs of labor until then .We lived about 45 minutes away from the hospital ,and I knew I wasn't going to make it.Well I gave birth on a front seat of a mustang sitting up to a beautiful healthy baby girl and it was my easiest delivery out of 7. I really believe the sitting up part helped.Well I wish you the best and let me know how you make out.Good luck.

i was booked in to have a homebirth on my 3rd and lucky i went to hospital half way through labour, my placenta got stuck, i was in agony, had to be put to sleep, rushed in to theatre and nearly died through blood loss, not to put you off but it does happen, i think home birth is a lovely idea putting that aside, especially if youve already got kids, if i was alowed i would go for it, better than staring at 4 white walls

My mom has had seven of her children at home and she loves it. she has the local volunteer emts on stand by incase they are needed. She like the fact that she can be more relaxed at home and she doesn't have the doct and nurses in bothering her all the time.
