I think suicide is cruel. There's always someone in your life who truly cares for you. Is it really fair of you to punish them, to potentially destroy their lives because you feel you can't find any other solutions to your problems?

It's tragic all around and my heart goes out not only to people who find themselves in situations that they feel are impossible to survive but to the people they leave behind when they go.

They are mentally ill (for the most part) and did not receive the help they needed. I've suffered from severe depression and have had intrusive thoughts of suicide. I wanted to die for years out of desperation. I came close many times. My father was also constantly threatening or 'attempting' suicide. Mental illness can be inherited so it's not about being 'shallow' or 'weak'. Some people may do it because they are seeking attention but I believe that's part of being depressed and a 'cry for help' that went too far. Behind it all, there is a problem that's not being addressed. I don't know anyone that's done it for fun or because they were shallow.

Some people think it's selfish and I suppose it is, but when you are that depressed you are consumed with your own depression. You don't see any other option and dying seems 'better' than facing the next day which you assume will be just as bad or worse than the day before. I'm on medication now which helps me see that everyday does not have to be the same.

to try to commit suicide is in many cases caused by depression...this is a terrible sickness...it effects the mind as well as the body leaving the person suffering...if suicide is commited because of a sickness so bad that taking ones on life seems to be an answer, feel for them...god is the great judge...he sees inside the heart...I see no way that a god of supreme compassion and understanding would not forgive a tragic mistake made due to an illness

The suicide victim murders themself because THEY HAVE TOLD THEMSELVES that there is nothing that can change for the better.

Life is 10% what you make it, and 90% how you take it.

Why do some rape victims seem to 'get over it' and others seem to carry it around like a badge of honor the rest of their lives? It's how they tell themselves to understand what happend to them.

Suicide is the same way...some people decide there's no way to fix their life and the pain of remaining that way is too much. Others simply do something else to change their lives.

It's not cowardice, nor weakness....it really is a matter of self-delusion where they believe there's no fixing it.

The moment a person realizes they can really change their life in every possible way and that they are responsible for their own emotions...it's an uplifting and clarifying experience.

First thing that comes to mind is "selfish". How could they do that to their family, that was so selfish of them, i feel so bad for the family. The second thing that comes to my mind is sorrow. I feel bad and wanna know why and then i think well i don't know what they were going through so i can't judge their situation, but when people commit suicide or try to commit, do thoughts of their distraught family members ever come to mind?

KC explains it extremely well, is he like a psychiatrist or something.

someone said that it is the people around suicide victims that cause them to kill themselves and in most cases i don't think that this is true.

I think it's the people who are closest to them who are to blame. Depression is a serious and real medical problem that several million people face with varying degrees. Most often the depressed person does not seek help for themselves so its up to the people around them who recognize the symptoms to get help for them before it is too late.

Having been a repeat try-er in my past, I think they often feel alienated from society (for a variety of reasons,) & they desperately need help.

two things:
one- i feel very sad for them because their souls were lost and the devil wins.
secondly, i feel it is very selfish of anyone to choose to take their own life as it leaves their family torn and in dire pain. it is a very selfish act to take your own life.
