How's come people tell you to stay a kid for as long as you can. Yet the moment you do anything childish or immature they tell you to grow up.

Well sweetie, I'm only 21 and I have a 4 year old, a 10 month old, a husband, and a mortgage. I love my life but it's not for everyone this age. I missed out on a lot that I didn't get to do before I started a family. I wouldn't trade my kids for the world but I wish I would have waited so I could have enjoyed my prom, my 21st bday, my 18th bday. They tell you to grow up only b/c they want you to act mature and to act your age. Have fun being a kid!!

Well when they say act like a kid they don't mean it literally all they are trying to say is act your age cause now a days there are allot of children/ kids who are doing things that they are not suppose to and if that doesn't help you lets just say that big people are confused. I'm 21 and when i do something childish they tell me to grow up but when i do something that has responsibilities my parents would say why you in such a hurry to grow up take your time as i said confused

Hmmm....
Because they tell you to stay a kid because they don't want you trying to do 'adult' things or things meant for older people such as sex or drinking and stuff.
Immaturity can only get you so far in life as well, but the two comaprisons you used are meant for two totally different things really. It's hard to describe, but true.

Thats just the way it is. It sucks, but being a kid is great so enjoy it! I am 13 & wish that I had enjoyed elementary school more now that i know how hard & mean middle school is. Cheers!!

because sometimes adults contradict themselves. when we say "stay a kid as long as you can" what we really mean is that kids have it made. you don't have to go to work, pay bills and handle adult situations. you're responsibilites are going to school, listening to your parents and learning how to be a productive adult when the time is right.

theres a balance between being a complete adult and acting like a 8 year old. You should find that balance because you're nexer going to get it back. Like you're never going to get back your younger years.
