I don't think he had a wife or children...He was to into inventing things ,studying,and paintings (even though he didn't finish most of them)...I believe i read he was actually gay and that's why the catholic disowned him and he expressed it through paintings thay asked him the draw...he was actually pretty interresting person i would read more into it
