Thomas Jones was unhappy with his situation, but the Bears traded him. The trade was:
JETS GET:
THOMAS JONES
BEARS 2ND PICK (63 OVERALL)
BEARS GET:
JETS 2ND PICK (57 OVERALL)
Now the Bears have Cedric Benson. The Bears also drafted Garrett Wolfe and signed Darius Walker as an undrafted free agent.

Because the managers of the Bears are total MORONS and thought that Thomas Jones, the only good offensive player for the team last year and who CARRIED the team through the playoffs and Super Bowl, was worth only moving up like 15 slots in the second round. And they did this knowing that the only other running back on the team was Cedric Benson, a former first round pick who is constantly injured and who was knocked out of the Super Bowl after only like 3 carries. Bensons is a guy who will never be able to carry more than 100 times per season. Why the Bears traded Jones, I do not know, but it will haunt them next year as their running game suffers and Rexy Grossman continues his horrible play.
To the person who said the Bears received the 57th pick overall, that is not true. The Jets owned Washington's 2nd round pick ( I believe 38th overall) and gave that to the Bears, not the Jets own second round pick (57th overall)

Because the bears traded him, because 1 they think Benson is durable enough to carry the bulk, and 2 because the GM just flat out doesn't know how to manage a team ( also look at Lance Briggs vs Rex Grossman's contract). They value players that have big upside over players that are already pro bowl caliber players, that are currently top of their game, because the Bears are too cheap.

He never received a long-term contract with the Bears and was angered that he sharied the load with Cedric Benson. The Bears traded him to the New York Jets for a 4th round pick.

Because there is no loyalty in pro sports. Like the rest of America, it's all about the moooooooo-lah. They gave Benson big money. You can't have 2 big-money running backs. Peace Jones, you know where the door is.

the biggest reason was "respect" Cedric Benson was taking carries from him, making more money than him and I don't think he wants to split time with anyone, he wants to be the "man" This is a 4 year deal I think, and being in the league for 7-8years, this was his last chance to "get paid",which equals respect in alot of players eyes.New York is up and coming and a media hub for attention, versus arizona and chicago, you know?
