I say philosophers are who shape our ideals, but sientists help us discover new ideas that shape our future.

What a thoughtful question. At first I thought of physicians, chemists and others in the medical sciences. People like Salk and Pasteur.
Next, I thought of politicians. Be they kings, tyrants, or presidents, they have had a great impact on humanity; for example, Hitler, Stalin, Churchill.
Then... I realized you had asked about the last five thousand not five hundred years and thought of the clergy. They had a phenominal influence on people before the reformation.

Why, writer of course! The writer is the one who makes sure all the ideas get to the masses. There are so many different writers who were great thinkers: Plato, Aristotle, Luther are just the ones who enacted change. Then there's all the people who have written books that matter: Twain, Dickens, Bradbary, and so many more. I hope to join them, but I know I'll never be that great!

I think it has been that of a doctor.Doctors have saved innumerous lives.Infact they've been the gods on Earth-having been given the capacity to give lives .SO I think doctors have influenced the world the most.
