I am struggling at helping my friend do this equation. I'm not very good at it so could someone please show me how to learn this so that I can help out and know it myself......Thanks.

Y-3=1(x-1) This is the problem. How do I do this? I need to simplify it. If someone can explain this to me I would appreciate it!!! Thanks again!!!

y-3= 1(x-1)

do the distribute property of 1(x-1)

so that would be:
1x-1
then you have
y-3=1x-1

add three to both sides adn you get:
y=x+2

and its simplified

first off multiplying by 1 has no effect so 1(x-1) = x-1

adding 3 to both sides:

y = x+2

The above equation cannot be simplified further without changing the subject of the equation

y-3=x-1
y-3+3=x-1+3
y=x+2
