Why dont people just habitually drive less? I mean if you can walk somewhere why not? All an automobile does is allow you to travel long distances or travel quickly. So, if you're not in a hurry or you dont have to go far why drive?

Americans are the victims of their lazy and greedy mass media. The propaganda is driven by the needs of multi-national corporations who sponsor them. That has the impact of supporting our materialistic and self-centered culture. Many people don't understand the concept of self-sacrifice for the good of the many.

The automobile manufacturers want to sell what they have: gas guzzlers. Fortunately, many cities and local communities, like Seattle, are encouraging car pools and the use of mass transit. Personally, I bike and use the bus extensively.

Detroit needs to get on board and start working toward a greener planet.

By the way, the cost of gasoline will continue to skyrocket. query: "Peak Oil"

The media has not bothered with this very, very important topic.
