There's been slavery since the ancient times of Greece and Rome. Africans were no exception, and have traded slaves amongst themselves.

It still happens today, not in the same sense though. Human trafficking, being sold into prostitution, ect.

Sure. Early to Arab sailors then to Dutch traders. I'm guessing that up to about 1000 AD, in their heyday Vikings may have fit in there somewhere, since they did include slaves in their trade and did ply the Mediterranean. Technology advances of the sailing ships may have made the difference.

Yes, I think that the Europeans "bought" Africans from other Africans that were defeated in battle.

Yes, they sold their own into slavery. People in the northern United States were the slave traders who sold them to the southern planters.

Black African tribesmen would sell other captive black African tribesmen as slaves to the Portugeese or Arabs. This was how blacks from the interior of Africa were brought to the coastal cities such as Zanzibar to be sold as slaves (Black Gold).
