what is a good 2th proffesion for a necromancer

Depends on which game you are playing and what you want to do. Necromancers are in all three games, so you can combine it with anything.
I wouldn't recommend Warrior or Ranger though. Well, Ranger might be OK with the right build, but warriors really should be primary, since they wear the best armor.
You might just want to take elemtalist so you can do nuke damage on top of the Necro's DOTs and DPS skills.
Mesmer is good for more DOTs and skill shut-down.
You can never go wrong with Monk. Add some direct healing and buffs to your mix.
I don't have the second or third game, so I can't comment on the new classes.

It depends.It depends on if you want to be a minion master or an SS (spitfeul spirit) or a battery.
For a Minion-Master necro most common would be Monk.
Spiteful Spirit Necro's normaly have Mesmer as a 2nd due to using Archane Echo.
Battery necro's,usually doesn't matter,but some places require certain builds.DoA (Domain of Anguish) as an example.
