Red Hot Chili Peppers, definitely.
Download 'By the Way' and 'Californication'(the albums).
Songwise I probably reccomend 'Under the Bridge'.
Cream are also a very good (and psychadelic) band - I reccomend listening to 'Sunshine of Your Love'.
Listen to some Beatles, Neil Young, Guns N' Roses, Queen and Franz Ferdinand (for a more modern and alternative kind of rock).

U2 is a great band. Also, Keane and the Ben Folds Five. All have great songs that you can really rock out to.
