A real-time game may be designed to always use 100% while you are playing it. They automatically SCALE UP the action to make it even better.
So there is no FIXING IT. You could have todays FASTEST computer, and it will still use ALL you've Got.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

It is because the game is using up all your CPU's processing power to play the game.
Do you want to play at a higher resolution? Is the frame rate too low?
If not, why do you want to 'fix' this? When you play the CPU will probably always hit 100%. Just the resolution or frame rate will be higher.
If it is a problem, then upgrading the graphics card may offload some of the calculations from the CPU.
You can upgrade the CPU to a faster one that will work in your machine.
You can upgrade the motherboard/CPU (and probably memory) to the latest version of microprocessors

CPU usage %100 is not a problem. Its common, and nothing to worry about. Unless you have a really really really out of this world CPU, your CPU is going to be 100 percented even when playing older games. The reason why is because games, especially 3D games, have a lot of processes going on at once.

Suggest you free up RAM as much as possible if you want to play games on your PC.
In the first place, games are primarily graphics. Graphics create large files and consume memory. Therefore:
- Set wallpaper and screensaver to blank or none.
- Review Start Menu. Remove anything you don't need on a daily basis.
- Run Disk Cleanup, Scandisk, Defrag at least every two weeks.
- Tools, Internet Options. Delete cookies, Delete files (including offline), clear history, set days to store history to 0.
See if this helps.

Games are the most processor intensive programs you can run on your computer. If you enjoy playing games, you should consider getting an XBOX or something like that, designed for games. Something like the XBOX 360 is nothing more than an extremly powerful computer game machine.

its because games like that are very demanding of resources. i have an athlon xp 64 3200+ at stock 2.2 Ghz overclocked to 2.51 w/ 2 GB ram and a 128 MB pci-16x video card and cs 1.6 takes all my proc and mem. its just because its available, so why not use it.
unless its causing lag, then this is normal. but make sure that if you are lagging, that it is from the pc, and not cuz of your ping *if its an online game*.

It happens. The CPU usage shoots up even when you run Command Prompt (DOS Prompt).

why would you want to fix that? Your pc is using its cpu for your game, if you restricted that your game would run slower than normal.
