Call a Chev dealer parts dept.....they can decode the option code from your truck for the rear axle gear ratio. The option code label is in the glove box or under the hood on the fender skirt and has a series of numbers and letters. These option codes identify all the systems and options on your truck.

If no one can tell you where the tag is, I can tell you how to find out definitively on any vehicle.

1. Chock the front tires.

2. Put the rear end up on jack stands where the tires clear the ground.

3. Put the transmission in neutral.

4. Mark the rear drive tire/wheel at one spot that you can use to keep up with revolutions.

5. Turn the tire exactly 10 revolutions and count how many times the yoke on the front of the differential turns.

6. Divide the number of yoke turns by 10 and that is your ratio. If it turns a little over 41 turns you have a 4.11 if it turns a little over 37 turns you have a 3.73, etc.

jack up the rear end. put a chalk mark on one tire pointing toward a chalk mark on the floor. then put chalk marks on the prop shaft and diff. housing. have someone slowly turn the wheel one revolution while you count the number of revolutions at the prop shaft. the number of revs on the prop shaft is the gear ratio.

You'll probably have to count the gears on the ring and pinion and do some math if the tag is not there.
