It's definitely a metal sound, perhaps it could be bearings being tossed around, but I'm not sure. I only hear it when I put my car in drive, if I put it in park or neutral I don't hear the sound anymore. Anyone have a clue here?

The only thing I can think of is one of your motor mounts are bad and when you put it in drive it's allowing the motor to move enough that something is rubbing.

If it does it when you put your car in drive (or reverse) then it might be something in transmission. Have it checked. If you have broken gear teeth in there then you need professional help (and a new gearbox(transmission).

Check your breaks, if you have not had them serviced it could be the pads or your rotors. Check the link hope this helps.
