You need to turn off the radio and pick up the newspaper or a book. You will become a better conversationalist and people will be more willing to listen to you when you bring their attention back to an earlier subject, you will speak from a position of authority because folks will consider you well read and will welcome your input.

The trick is to have a bag of many witty remarks and pull them out when the situation is right.

Lol, it takes practice. I can usually come up with the easy, funny answer, but figuring out the original question or statement to start the conversation leaves me blank.

I blame it on a lack of confidence. Who ever you are talking to is intimidating you for some reason. Try to remember you are as good or better than they are and it will free your brain to think fast and come up with some good one liners when you need them.
