The Green Mile is about misconceptions, faith and trust. People mistakenly believe that John Coffey killed the little girls because he was unable to take back their deaths and injuries. Faith and trust are shown when John is permitted by the wardens to heal the sick woman and Paul's bladder infection.
As with most Stephen King novels it is about a higher power.

Things are not always as they appear to be. One has to learn from his mistakes and be open to accepting ideas that may be beyond the world as we normally see it. Stephen King bends reality and makes it magical in this book.

I BELEIVE IT SPEAKS TO THE REDEMPTION OF MAN THROUGH THE PROCESS OF CAPITOL PUNISHMENT. THE MAIN GUARD IS THE LENS , THROUGH WHICH WE SEE BOTH THE INSTITUTIONALIZED EVIL AND THE PROVIDENT GOOD OF A CONVICTED FELON, WHO CAN "SWALLOW EVIL " AND CAST IT OUT , BY WAY OF BLOWING OUT VERMIN FROM HIS MOUTH , WHICH IS QUITE LITERALLY BIBICAL.
