NO NO AND NO.. Soda is only good for adding a tremendous amount of sugar to your diet.
1/3 of a cup (5 tablespoons per can). And we wonder why we are fat.
Drink clear liquids. Hot tea or hot chicken broth will thin the mucus and allow it to blow out.
Use Vicks Vaporub in the edge of your nose overnight while you sleep and it will be mostly gone in the morning. Do it at night till it is totally gone. The menthol will liquefy the mucus and cause it to run.

Yes :) ice cold soda and chips 2 packets sure will boost the cold - to a chest or throat infection best of luck
Try this to come out of the cold
1. Hot chicken soups with bit of pepper - from fresh chicken ( ie not packed soups )
2. Black tea with ginger and lemon squeezed in with sugar taken hot ( if u have cough don't add lime )

drinking plenty of liquids(nonalcoholic) is a must to get better...as far as soda goes, i hear that ginger ale can help to settle an upset stomach. so just be sure to drink lots of liquids, soda's fine, but i doubt its no better than orange juice...you may want to avoid dairy products because they can coat the throat and worsen a sore throat and congestion. Try a saline spray for your nose, that will help dry up the mucous and keep it from dripping down your throat(the likely cause of that future sore throat). Take it easy, and hope you get better soon!

No soda is very bad for a cold
One of the reasons that you would drink something like orange juice is because it provides your body With calcium needed to help a cold
Soda on the other hand, will remove that calcium and it could hurt your throat even more

Sweetie, soda is not really good for anything. It may taste good, but that's about it. Sounds like most of the answers you have already gotten are good ones. I often use products with zinc (like Zicam) at the first sign of a cold and it almost always helps. But, vitamin c, chicken soup, and any hot herbal tea (with lemon or honey if you like) should prove helpful. Feel better soon friend.
