I tell her how nice she looks when we go to town. She always tells me "I don't feel it" and sometimes in a blue moon she sais "thank you" I cannot remember the last time she complimented me. Do you think that telling a spouse shes beautiful is destructive somehow?

Don't focus on her looks everyday. My fiancee knows I appreciate it more when he focuses on other parts of me most and my looks only once in a while. Try telling her you think she's so smart by the way she ______, or that she makes you happy that she's your best friend and you feel like you can tell her anything, or that you think she's so thoughtful, or she's a good friend to her friends, or an excellent cook, or an awesome tennis player. Let her know how special she is, not just that she's another beautiful woman. She'll feel more beautiful because she'll know her inner beauty shines through too.

Women want to know that their husbands think they're the most beautiful creature on the planet. Maybe your wife has some self-image issues. Trust me, she hears your compliments and they do make a difference. Don't compliment her if you are fishing for one back. She needs to start off being happy with herself before she can be happy with anyone else. Talk to her about how she's feeling. Reassure her. Love her. It's all you can do.

it's a good idea to tell your wife she's beautiful!
but don't overdo it, it may get tired.
Instead try find something specific to compliment her on, like her hair or her dress.
Try get a hold of "the Five Love Languages", figure out her love language and start "speaking it". then you will hear some compliments. The idea is that people give and receive love in 5 different ways, like gift-giving, acts of service, quality time, words of affirmation and physical touch.

No it is a wonderful thing. She just does not feel beautiful herself. She should be complimenting you as well. Sometimes telling your wife how beautiful she is can backfire and she can be conceided and just tell you I don't feel it so you will keep going on about her. She could be so caught up in herself that she forgets about you.

I think that by telling her you're boosting her self-esteem.
It appears that your wife may have self-esteem issues by the way she acts when you compliment her--"I don't feel [beautiful]."
Be patient. You're not giving compliments in order to receive them. If this is the case, then you don't sincerely think your wife is beautiful and all you want is an ego boost for yourself.
I suggest that you compliment her and try to work out her body issues.

Just saying "you're beautiful" again and again can start to lose it's meaning. That's not to say you should stop complementing her in different ways, or by complementing different features. The next time you are with her under the stars try something like "my god, I could get lost in the stars in your eyes". Yeah it sounds corny, but it really will boost her self confidance.

No! My husband tells me everyday I look beautiful and how he is so glad he is married to me.
I try to tell him to. If one of us is slipping up then we tell one another or we remind each other we both like hearing nice things.
I think compliments help a marriage. Woman love to hear that there husbands think they are beautiful!
Keep it up! Just remind your wife you like hearing nice things to. She probably just needs a reminder :)

Well, some women don't like to be told that they are beautiful everyday. It can get a tad annoying, can you think of another type of compleiment that you could tell her? Save the you're beautiful for when you go out to dinner.

no way, it makes a woman feel good when her man tells her that she looks good, wait, she will appreciate it later and will compliment you as well, or talk to her about it. But it is in no way destructive

Telling a woman she's beautiful everyday makes it a non compliment. It becomes sort of like saying good morning.
Only say it if you mean it.
