He is a bust, but not as much has Ryan Leaf. Rex had good games here and there but Leaf never had one. And Rex made it to the Super Bowl. I don't think Leaf made it to the play-offs. Grossman doesnt boast everyday about how well he is gonna play and then he goes on the field and plays like a 2nd grader.

I wouldn't call him a bust just yet. Remember, last year was the first time he was actually healthy for the whole season. He's shown the ability to make some big plays, but he also makes a lot of rookie type mistakes, but since last season WAS the first time he was able to get out on the field, it was a lot like having a rookie out there playing. The classroom can't replace game experience, and the only way a QB can learn from mistakes is to go out there on game day and make those mistakes. If Rex doesn't show any improvement this year, then we can start talking bust. He'll NEVER be as big of a bust as Cryin Leaf though because he isn't a head case like Cryin Leaf was. Rex has already accomplished more in the NFL than Leaf ever did.

If bust means leading your team to the super bowl in your first healthy season in the NFL, then yes he is a bust. Ask yourself this. How many games did Ryan Leaf have with a QB rating higher than 100, and how many has Rex had? I think that will answer your question just fine.

Don't think he's a bust yet, but if he is he's nowhere near as big a bust as Leaf. I don't see how you could make the comparison. Leaf was seen as the best QB in the draft by many, and most thought he would eventually surpass Manning. It was a crapshoot who was going to be picked first. Despite playing better than Manning for the first few games of his career he never did ANYTHING. Plus he was a total jerk to everyone around him. He was a total failure in the NFL. Grossman was picked 22 overall in '03, so expectations were not too high. In fact, there were many (myself included) who believe he was taken too high at 22, so you could say any success he has had has affirmed the first round pick. Whatever mistakes he has made and injuries he has suffered he has already had way more success than Leaf--there just is no comparison. Plus he is still young enough to learn to correct his mistakes.

I don't know about him being a huge bust. He's been disappointing, but I think had he stayed healthy things would have been different. I don't know how he needs to do it, but he needs to even himself out -- runs too hot/cold too often.

I would put Leaf. Horrible player, lousy teammate, bad with the press, never really amounted to much. At least Rex is a good guy, good teammate, and though not the best QB out there, he's played okay. Leaf was a top pick, Rex wasn't. Leaf had much higher expectations, and he didn't come within 1% of any of them.

Hes as big of a bust as you can be with a 15-4 record in his true rookie season, and a trip to Super Bowl XLI. Yeah, compare that kid to Ryan Leaf. Even if the Bears had won that game, you would have still been asking if hes a bust. The biggest bust ever to win a Super Bowl as a starting QB.

Rex Grossman is somewhat of a bust but nowhere as huge of a bust as Ryan Leaf, or even Akili Smith for that matter.

No he's not a bust yet and he's already better than Ryan Leaf. He has played in a Super Bowl you know.
