I think people need to get over the celebrity status. People can claim discrimination for everything. She broke the law and it may be harsh, but she chose to keep violating the law. It's her own stupidity that got her into this mess, so why should we feel sorry for her? There are greater injustices in the world than rich spoiled brat going to jail for awhile. Like people dying of hunger or AIDS, for example.

Well, ask yourself this -- if a regular person was convicted of an alcohol driving offense and put on probation with a suspended license - and then KNOWINGLY violated that probation by driving on the suspended license and getting pulled over for ANOTHER infraction..... what do you think would happen? Would the judge say, "oh, you poor John Q. Citizen, I'll give you another chance and you don't have to do any county jail time....."?
The judge found that it was simply unbelievable that Hilton did not know her license was suspended. If she was given another chance or allowed to be confined to her home or something then THAT would have been special treatment.
She's an arrogant, privileged person. She and her family are very elitest -- her mother was disrespectful to the prosecutor and the judge - when the sentence came down she asked for the judge's autograph.
Hey -- if the sentence was excessive -- then the Hilton's have all the means and ammunition to file an appeal bond and appeal the case to a higher court. They can keep her out of jail by appealing the decision. They certainly aren't like you and me, who would have to mortgage the house to do that.
F Paris Hilton and her arrogance. Now maybe she will understand that actions have consequences and she is no better than the "little people."

She was being treated fairly. Anyone else who did this would have been sent to jail. Just because she is famous doesn't mean she is above the law.
Some people (not me) see her as a role model. So if Paris Hilton gets to drive with a suspended licence and only got a slap on the wrist then the people who look up to her (unfortunately) will think the same. This wasn't about just this one time. She has been busted a few times for similar things and never got punished, I mean she WAS on probation so she knew she needed to be on her best behaviour. It's her own fault. She needs to be knocked off her high horse and realize she is just like the rest of the world. Having money and fame doesn't make her any different than me. When she is cut she bleeds the same as the rest of us.
This isn't about Paris Hilton, it's about keeping our roadways safe. She has been driving drunk for to long. If I were her I would be happy that I only have to spend 45 days in jail as apposed to a lifetime of guilt for killing someone because I made a bad judgement call.

She will be able to stay out on bail if she appeals.
But from what I have read, the sentence is about the same as any other defendant in California what get for what she did - twice driving with a suspended license and failing to register for alcohol school - after being convicted for reckless driving while using alcohol.
What does seem harsh is that she will have to do her time in solitary confinement for her own protection - in part because the judge won't let her pay to be in a better jail as other wealthy defendants have been permitted to do.

In my opinion If you do the crime you do the time period. Do you honestly believe that she should get off? Come on she signed the papers so she knew that her license was suspended. She just thinks that she is someone special when she is not. She is subject to the laws here in the good Ole USA just like everyone else. Give me one good reason why she should get off. The judge treated her no diff. then any one else that was busted driving on a suspended license, twice in what thirty days. She got what she deserved, now she needs to pay the piper.

Of COURSE !! The lil trollop had violated her probation TWICE !!
"Hilton pleaded no contest in January to reckless driving stemming from a Sept. 7 arrest in Hollywood. Police said she appeared intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test. She had a blood-alcohol level of .08 percent, the level at which an adult driver is in violation of the law. She was sentenced to 36 months probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines. Two other traffic stops and failure to enroll in a mandated alcohol education program landed her back in court."
I think she was treated like everyone else !

She's a person, plain and simple. Ignore the "celebrity factor". She did the crime, and she must do the time. That's the way life goes, people, and to not understand that she is not some immortal goddess incapable of wrongs, a lot of people need to get their facts straight.

Its about time that the celebrities and the very rich are treated like the rest of the citizens. She broke the law. Now she pays for it. Hurrah for the judge!

Her celebrity status is by no means a bad thing. If I had I a criminal record nobody would hire me, but Paris Hilton can have any job she wants.

So the judge was jealous? Of what? What the hell is there to be jealous of?
Paris Hilton is a spoiled, uppity skank. If a little time in the pokey will bring her down a notch, it would do her some good.
