I got a new white T-shirt for the tie dye. Do I need to wash it before?

Wash it with a mild soap (no fabric softener) then dry without using fabric sheets. Some dyes need salt or soda ash for the dyes to adhere--check the package of the dye you use.

The cheapest way is to get a kit, home-made die good enough to stay in fabric isn't really possible unless you had some serious equipment :p I would try picking up a tie-dye kit theres a bunch online. If your end goal is just having tie-dye shirts for a team it'd probably be cheaper to purchase some online from someone wholesale like tie-dyeguys or etsy or something. Good luck!

First, you stop and realize that you are not in the 80's. Second, you realize that Tie dye is for people stuck in the 80's. Third, realize that other humans don't wear tie die.
