if i want to go back to school & apply for financial aid, doesn't the school ask for our last year's tax information? if so, is there any other way, like using last year's tax paperwork?

Yes you can still file your taxes. After your return is filed you can submit form 4506 request for transcript. There is no charge and they will send you a line-by-line of what you file. If you asked for a copy of your original tax return you will be charged $39.00, if not more by now. The financial aid office except the transcript from IRS.
Good luck and file your return ASAP/

You are able to use last years tax paper for applying, but you will still want to file for last years taxes. You are still capable of filing for your taxes even though it is late. You may have to pay more to the state and federal a little more than if you would have on time, but you are still able to do so.

You can file taxes late - sometimes people file them years late. Fill them out the same way you would have, and send them in. If you owe, there will be a penalty for late filing; if you have a refund coming, you'll get it as long as you file within three years of the original deadlline, and there won't be a penalty.

They're going to want to see your current tax filing. Plus, you need to file if you earned enough to be liable for filing. And, yes, you can always file late. There may be a penalty, but that is certainly better than having this hanging over your head.

It is never too late to file a tax return. After the three year deadline you do, however, forfeit any refund.
