no pipes above the ceiling, and chimney is currantly blocked of. also no guttering on the end wall but there?

is a plastic trim 'capping' the end of the slate roof, a survay said that the chimney didnt have damp corse but for a property of this age thats normal!??

I have used a number of surveyors of the years and I am sorry to say that they are mostly useless. None of the matters you mention are very serious and he is probably looking for something to justify his fee. They tend to overlook serious problems and make no effort to move carpets or uncover important faults, covering themselves legally for any mistakes.
Money for old rope in my opinion.
