I believe it was Hillary Clinton on the Today show who started this phenomenon claiming a "Vast Right Conspiracy" was trying to 'frame' her husband with a sex scandal. Well as we all found out, there was no 'conspiracy' and Hillbilly was proven wrong. She was made a fool of, and yet people still believe such a conspiracy exists. So the Clinton legacy of a 'conspiracy out to destroy us' has taken foot hold and won't let up. Will these ridiculous fantasies never end?

Rich-I am not ridiculing Hillary for her comittment to her marriage. The Q is in reference to the 'conspiracy theories' running rampant. My presonal feelings on the Clinton's marriage (I think of it more political partnership, just MHO) she began this with that ridiculous statement. Then, when the truth came out--you'd think the conspiracy theories would've gone by the wayside, but instead they've exploded. Kudos to the Clintons in knowing the best defense is a good offense. Be the first to cast suspicion and chances are you'll be overlooked. Clintons ARE the masters.

bluebear-the VAST RIGHT CONSPIRACY myth was debunked when the DNA came back on from the blue dress. No one but Billy-Boy was responsible for that.

Hillary didn't start conspiracy theory activity. There are still people questioning both Kennedy murders and even events from WW I.

The biggest reason for her comment is that from the minute Clinton's terms started, they were under a microscope for every tiny thing they did or didn't do. Now Bush is facing the same thing. That is what happens to people in public life. It only looks like a conspiracy to destroy us because, whatever it is that is happening, is destroying the U.S. from what it was intended to be.

We are in the middle of huge worldwide changes. Everything needs to be questioned thoroughly. Not questioning shows a serious lack of intelligence or concern.

They started on blogs by nuts like the ones who believe JFK was killed by the government to save embarrassment for his womanizing. In November after attack, President Bush was forced to defend the honor of the United States denying all conspiracy theories. This was after the Taliban admitted hiding Bin Ladin.
Shortly after almost every " real politician" I guess with the San Francisco bridge melting & collapsing this week the goverment was after the commuters from Oakland too.
A total ridicilous theory so Democrats & nuts could embarrass the President fo the United States & the media could flap their gums with hot air.

I'd say after the assassination of Lincoln. Oh wait, that was a conspiracy...Matt Lauer was the journalist who interviewed Hillary when she made that statement. He said she was courageous and forthright for coming for the interview. He thought she would have cancelled. You have to remember that she believed her own husband when he said he didn't have sex with Monica. She was defending her husband and stuck it out and worked it out, all in the public eye. She should be commended for her role as a forgiving spouse, not ridiculed by an almost-perfect-behaving Republican Party. You also need to understand the backdrop of Arkansas politics and how it operates. She may not bake cookies, but at least she took her marriage seriously enough to work things out.

i am not disagreeing with your opinion of hillary, but when was it that these theories were "disproven." No conspiracies from the right or the the left as it relates to hillary have been proven or disproven.
i am not a hillary fan, but it sounds like you are steeped in as much rhetoric as she is. when was she "made a fool of" in relation to her view of the right?
i would ask you the same..."will these ridiculaous fantasies ever end" from either side of the aisle? when can we sit down and stop demonizing each other?

It's hard to say which came first, the vast left wing conspiracy or the vast right wing conspiracy.
