My cycle is very regular (28 days), so if my last period was on a Tuesday, the next one will almost always be on a Tuesday.
Most times, it's easy for me to determine ovulation days.

My question is:
If sometimes, my period comes late, i.e. one week late... was it because the ovulation happened late, or is it the bleeding (material expulsion) which was late?

A normal luteal phase (the time from when you ovulate until your period starts) is 12-16 days and doesn't usually vary much in women. So, I would say that you ovulated later than usual.

It's most likely because you ovulated later in your cycle. Once you ovulate it takes approximately 14 days before your period comes. This is because the process of getting things ready for your period takes 14 days.
