You should start taking your pill the sunday after your period starts. For example- your period starts thursday and you start taking the pill on sunday.

I would suggest that you give your gyn a call if anything. Every woman is different, so call your doctor.

Best of luck to you!!!

If you're talking about the pill, you have two options: Sunday Start or First Day Start.

Sunday Start: You begin taking your pills on the first Sunday following the start of your period. So if you got your period yesterday (5/4), you would begin taking the pills on Sunday (5/6). You MUST use back up contraception for one FULL week before they are effective protection against pregnancy.

1st Day Start: You begin taking pills on the first day your period starts. You do not need to use back up contraception with this method.

Both of these methods should have been explained to you by your doctor and ALWAYS read the information leaflet that comes with EVERY single pack of pills. EVERY question you might have will be answered there...OR you can ask your pharmacist.

You'd better talk to your doctor or go to Planned Parenthood and get instructions. They should have explained it when you got the pills. It's not worth it to do it wrong.

You would start after your period is over. Most people start on the following Sunday but there are exceptions so that is why you need to talk to the doc.
