Hey, I'm 13 and I'm sick of kids at school telling me that my clothes/stuff smells like smoke, of course I'm not the one smoking! My dad and step-mom do and It's gross! So any ways to get that gross smell out of the house. Don't say to get them to stop smoking, already tried and it didn't work.

Thanks,
♥Me

Odors from Clothes, Furniture, Rooms, and Rugs:

As far as an immediate fix I suggest mixing 1 part Vodka (if you can get your dad or step-mom to help) to 5 parts of your regular perfume, in a small travel spray bottle and using this as a "body mist." The Vodka will Neutralize the smoke odors and has no actual smell of its own. It will dissipate from your clothes and skin, and by using your own perfume you could smell it slightly without being overpowering. I have been told that many women used Vodka mixed with expensive perfumes to lighten the strong scents and save money.

I am a firefighter, trust me this works on all my uniforms and should work perfectly for your clothes!
To remove offensive odors from clothing: use one cup of Vinegar in the wash cycle, along with your usual detergent. This will not damage dark colored clothes (my uniforms pants are dark blue), and will actually boost your usual detergent's ability to clean, as well as help remove tough stains!!

To remove offensive odors from furniture and rugs, to make your girlfriend happy: make a solution of 3 parts Vinegar to 7 parts water, pour in a trigger spray bottle, spritz the area. and let dry. This will neutralize any odors!

You might have trouble with the first suggestion, however if you just explain whats going on and that you'd rather not be accused at school they might understand. Besides that once mixed your not gonna drink the solution with the perfums in it. Hope this helps.

Since you can't get you parents to quit smoking, you could always ask them to smoke outside. However, it is their house, and they have the right to smoke in it if they feel like it. As for you, always keep your bedroom door closed and (if the weather permits) leave your windows open. You'll probably need to seal the cracks in your door with a towel or something, since the smoke will find any way in it can find. Spray your clothes and bed, etc. with Febreeze and wipe down all the walls. The cigarette smoke sticks to the walls and will smell even if there is no one smoking inside. Make sure that whenever your clothes are washed, they go immediately to your room, so they won't pick up the smell.

Take my advice. I live with 2 smokers and I use this method to keep myself smelling clean. You are 13 years old, you don't want people to think YOU are smoking.

Best of luck!

I agree. Open the windows and keep opening the windows every time they shut them. Maybe they'll get the hint.

Good luck. 2nd hand smoke is so dangerous. That should be child abuse.

Don't ever start smoking either!
