The Spartans fighting to the last men
A Greek traitor who led the Persians over the goat pass to the Spartans' rear - the real traitor was a goat herder, not the monstrous character as depicted in the movie.

According to Herodotus, there were 5,200 Greeks. The 300 Spartans, not including Leonidas, were his personal bodyguard, minus the two he sent home for eye problems. Basically, nothing in the movie was historically correct except for a couple of names, Leonidas and Xerxes.

The names. And also one another fact: The arrows...it's true that Persians used to throw millions of arrows at the beginning of the battle to make a chaos in enemy's army...and it's true that it did not work out with Greeks cause they had a very heavy armor as 25 pounds for each ordinary soldier.

Very little is historically acurate, but the movie was based on a graphic novel of the same name, not directly on the events that happened.

i think some part of the movie is true, but of course other parts were added to make the movie really cool.but for the facts whether it's true, i don't know...maybe others do know.
