How about playing with the symbols in chemistry and astrology. I just went and googled "chemistry symbols" and "astrology symbols."

Chemistry: When writing names of elements, a chemist usually uses abbreviations, since they are quicker to write than the names. The abbreviations that we use are called symbols. None of the symbols contain more than two letters; the first one is always capatilized and the second, if any, is always lower case. Of course there are some exceptions such as Hydrogen (H), Carbon (C), Oxygen (O), etc. Some examples of two letter symbols can be seen on the Periodic Table. Don't forget that the second letter of the symbol is never capatalized. If it is, then it represents a molecule, for example CO represents a molecule of Carbon Monoxide. The symbols for all known elements are given in the Periodic Table.

Astrology: Zodiac symbols for signs and planets are called glyphs. (http://www.astrologycom.com/zodiac2.html#topic)

Good luck. Email me if you need to brainstorm with someone. I'm around most of today.

For chemistry - you could go cutsy with two isotobes holding hands or two test tubes pouring their liquids together in a spiral. For the serious side - a tree (can be confused with biology), lightening, or something showing combustion.

Do you me astromony or astrolgy? For astromony any of the constellations is a given. For something more try getting pictures of some of the nebulus clouds or my favorite pictures of a black hole or better yet picture of nothing (really - sections of space that have nothing).

For astrology - of course any of the zodiac signs.
