I just reinstalled Windows 2K and now every time I start up, it is in safe mode. The display is all funky and grainy and when I try to reset the monitor/color resolution the max it shows is 800X600 when it should be 1024X768. This is driving me nuts.....which apparently is not a long trip.......Give me my screen and normal resolution back please......Thanks in advance.

Unless you are seeing the words 'safe mode' on all 4 corners of the screen, you are simply missing the video card drivers, and by your description, you could also be missing the chipset and other drivers, as Windows 2000 installation normally does not contain many hardware drivers by default.

If being in possibility-free mode works for you, there is not any harm that would want to come from continually using the computing gadget in possibility-free mode. possibility-free mode purely signifies that homestead windows received't load maximum issues at startup, mutually with maximum gadget drivers and different application. the reason it really is operating swifter is what's not any longer being loaded at startup, which from the sound of that is likely something nasty like a boatload of spy ware. at the same time as you'd be extra effective off getting the computing gadget wiped clean off, likely even reinstalling homestead windows, there is not any longer something incorrect with operating it in possibility-free mode, except that hardware you connect to the computing gadget would no longer paintings acceptable (or in any respect) with no need the drivers loaded.
