I feel so sad sometimes that I can't smile. I don't feel joy. I am constantly in a state of worry and have sadness written all over my face.

My boss at work tries to smile at me and I can't really smile back. My co-worker at work talks about her 12 year old daughter and I am sad because my daughter lives in another state with her grandmother currently because her Dad moved due to job reasons. She is in pain and I can't do much to help her.

I do exercise and take vitamins and try to eat right.

How do you really learn to forgive yourself and "live" life again? I don't want to take medications.

I have an appointment with my doctor for a physical next week. I don't know if I should mention something to her.

What do I do when I cant find my smile and feel joy. And sadness is trying to loom as a black cloud over my world.
"I pray"
I just posted a poem on my blog that was shared with me. I think this may be helpful to you. I hope this brightens your day. Read this out loud to your self and believe it. Yes, you should tell your doctor how your feeling. So he/she can do the appropriate blood work and rule out something physical that can be treated. God bless****

Celebrate you
You are worth celebrating!
You are worth celebrating.
You are unique.
In all the world, there is only one you.
There is only one person with your talents,
Your experience, your gift.
No one can take your place.
God created only one you, precious in his sight.
You have immense potential to love, to care,
To create, to grow, to sacrifice,
If you believe in yourself.
It doesn't mater your age, or your color,
or whether your parents loved you are not
(maybe they wanted to, but didn't know how).
Let that go, it belongs to the past, you belong to the now.
It doesn't matter what you have been, the wrong you've done,
the mistakes you've made, the people you've hurt.
You are forgiven. You are accepted, you're OK.
CELEBRATE YOU.
Begin now. Start now. Give yourself a new birth. Today.
You are you, and that is all you need to be.
You are temporary. Here today and gone tomorrow.
But today, today, can be a beginning, a new thing, a new life. You deserve this new life, it is given freely.
That is the miracle called God.
So celebrate the miracle and celebrate you.

One must always keep a smile reserved deep within our hearts. One must never allow anyone or anything to steal that personal sunshine (our smile). May you be blessed with the peace, joy and love of God****

realize that there are "highs" and "lows" in life and right now you are on a low. Baby steps. I spent my whole 25th year of life just trying to find some joy and create some reason for wanting to enjoy life again. It's easy to get down in this world we live in, we are bombarded with sad, bad, depressing images and events. The idea that "somebody has it worse than you" is not what you need right now, dig out some old photos and make a scrapbook. Paint, pottery, create-do something constructive with your emotion."Fake it till you make it" was my philosophy for a little while. During my emotional low, I was also at my physical low- one would have thought I had anorexia or Aids cause I was so skinny. Your life is worth living, please take time to enjoy it.Write a letter (to yourself or maybe someone that maybe passed away that you miss or to your child)of all that you are going through and let it be a "cleansing" letter, you don't have to mail it, that's not the intent, just get it down on paper so it is somewhere other than inside you, eating you away.Good luck.God bless. ( If you believe that is)

just have the usual blood work done to make sure you're ok inside. You need to take some personal time for you, do things you like to do, have some new experiences, learn new things, take a short trip, see some funny movies or clean old-time comics, pray, get involved in volunteer work helping others (I don't know that volunteering your time would make you smile outside but it would make you feel better inside knowing you can make a difference). Everyone has heartaches but you can't let yours take over your life. Sure you can feel bad about things but if you dwell on those then you will stop yourself from growing and feeling good. You need to do some things that make you feel important to you so encourage the future, make plans and follow them.

Yes mention it to your doctor, also practice smiling when you are alone even laugh, this fools the brain into believing you are happy, the brain then releases the happy chemicals that makes us feel good. There are actual laughing classes that people take for this very reason.

First, I can empathize with you but what has helped me is to realize my internal feelings are mine; it wouldn't be right for me to base my interactions with others based on my personal feelings. Everyone else has their own trials/tribulations too.
I think that is good you take vitamins and exercise; I feel that shows you are taking responsibility for yourself. Something that I have found that helps me is daily meditation (I also exercise and take vitamins)

You should be really happy, because realization that you cannot smile is the first step on the road to unlocking that smile.
