Yes, my cousin's wife had a mild stroke on the face. She was unable to close her left eye, so she has to sleep with one eye opened.
After going through ten sessions of acupuncture, she is ok now.

If you knew one eye was open then you were not really asleep. It is just a saying telling you to watch your back.

Yes it is, but you don't actually see what's going on around you. Sleeping with one eye open is more of a catnap, meaning you may look asleep but will be aware of your surroundings.
Or you're sleeping naked on your stomache!

I don't know about one eye. I have trained myself to sleep with my eyes open when needed. It used to be great on slow days at work after pulling an all nighter with my friends and going to work straight after...

When my husband came home from Viet Nam (sp?) he slept with both eyes open - VERY freaky -

i remember spending the night with my cousin when we were young and i went to her room because i couldnt sleep and that was the nigh i found out she slept with her eyes open. ugh, its freaky!
