I am sick of all Democrats being clumped together...liberals are very different than conservative democrats. Do the people that constantly bash Dems. know the difference, or are you being as narrow-minded as Dems. who hate right religious conservatives?

Let me make the last part a little more clear. I meant to say...as Dems. who say they hate all Republicans when they really only despise the religious conservative right.

Conservative democrats usually follow the Democratic philosophy in economic discussion or things to support the average worker. However, they are usually religious and believe in many of the same morality issues as Republicans.

i am a CONSERVATIVE INDEPENDENT. I want the government to stay out of my life as much as possible. Let me try to help myself & if I fail then I will ask for goverment help. The DEMS want me to fail so they can come to my rescue like big brother. They also dont like anyone who has more then his nieghbor. They want us all to be equal. I dont want to help a nieghbor unless I see him helping him self first. Then if he needs some help I may give it to him.I am funny that way If I earned it I want to keep it not have it taken from me.TRhe DEms are not the party of JFK anymore. JFK lowered taxes & now the DEMS just love to raise them.GW is more like JFK then Harry or NANCY. THe DEMS forget what JFK said " ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country" Now the dems are saying " let us do for you what you should be doing for your self." YOU make the choise.

I didn't know there were any conservative democrats anymore lol. What is it that makes you conservative can you elaborate on that for me I would like to know your views on certain topics. The liberals have taken over the democratic party and most conservatives are leaving it for the republicans and vice versa. Additional details.....When people are bashing dems I wouldn't take it personal if you are religious and are for workers rights I understand that I did't start out here bashing dems but when I was looking for real questions I could answer I kept seeing all the democrats hating on everything republican so I went ahead and jumped in to express my opinions. I worked at sam's club a part of wal mart for 15 years so believe me I'm all for workers rights but what did the dems do for me? Nothing is the answer they will just raise my taxes is all. The reason we didn't have a union there at wal mart because we were under constant threat of termination for even saying the word (I'm totally serious about this we were shown videos in meetings that said if we so much as brought up the idea they would fire us), it had nothing to do with the republicans not supporting unions, we didn't have them because people were afraid to join together and stand up for themselves (I by the way constantly talked about unions and management was too cowardly to even think about saying anything to me but they had everyone else scared and kept in their place). I also used to like conservative dems such as sam nunn for georgia who were strong on defense etc. but I see very few of those guys around now if they are there you never see them because the pelosi's, reid's ,edward's (not to mention the hollywood types sticking their nose in) etc. are out in front of everyone else.

It is not a "who" as much as a "what." I have a problem with socialism. I have a problem with many of the ideas that both the far left liberals and the conservative Democrats both vote for. Not that I have seen many conservative Democrats ltely. The Dems have absorbed the liberals to a degree that has become dangerous for our future. ex: Nancy Pelosi. And the folks that want the old conservative Democratic party continue to support that with their votes.

Douglas - Congratulations on you intelligence and courage to make your own decision. A lot of folks seem to think it is a failure to make changes when needed. It is not.

edit - Thanks for posting your question in a civil manner with decent language. It is much more inviting to opposing views.

The probelm is that the parties (both Reps and Dems) are define by their kook extremes. Dems have their enviromentalists that are left of Stalin and Reps have their religous right who Are right of Stalin. Most people in both parties are in the middle either a conservaitive Dem or a moderate Rep. The Libertarian party is the closest thing to the middle party but they are more like Isolationist and just want to be left alone.

I have never heard of a conservative democrat.
Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, to name a few are some of the top dems and they represent the dems way of thinking. My biggest problem of all is that the thing that they are concerned with above everything else is proving Bush wrong. Not what is good for the country, not what is good for the troops, just playing politics, period. Their hate motivates them. They are hypocrites. Nancy Pelosi needs to remember that she is NOT the president. It has nothing to do with being narrow minded. It has everything to do with wanting to preserve our country and not hand it over to anyone who would do us harm.

I personally have nothing against democrats, a lot of my friends are democrats or liberals. I make every attempt to differentiate between a liberal and a far left liberal.

However I do take a great deal of umbrage when it comes to dealing with the far radical left and it's hypocrisy. They claim to be for individual rights however they attack the freedom of speech of individuals they disagree with, Operation "Shut up" for example, where a group of far left protesters tried to silence fox news during the presidential elections.

While they claim to celebrate diversity they attack and refute people with religious ideology.

They kill rational debate by making the standard for "hate speech" so broad nearly anything that is said by their opponent can be called racist, sexist, homophobic etc.. that their opponent needs to spend all his/her time explaining why they are not racist, sexist homophobic etc.

I can continue but I think you understand my point.

One of my old dear friends is actually very far left, however he and I respect each others opinions and all thought we disagree on a lot of points we accept our differences and do not feel a need to criticize or attack each other.

Personally I wish we could eliminate (figuratively not literally) the far fringe groups (on the left and the right) then maybe we can start having intelligent discussions where we can accomplish things rather than just slinging insults.

Some parts of the extreme right wing media are adept at coming up with distortions and outright lies about Democrats and have trashed the word "liberal" repeatedly. The facts are clear that Democrats are extremely conservative today. Most reasonable politicians love the center because the Republican party is now catering to a religious zealots and extremely powerful and wealthy special interests.

Unfortunately, the mass media tends to follow leads by the ultra-conservative media regardless of how inaccurate they may be. Case in point: Al Gore never said that he "invented" the Internet, although he was bashed repeatedly on that one. The truth is that he was essential to the funding and growth of the Internet and should have earned big points for that. He mentioned that he helped create the Internet as it is today and "create" suddenly becomes "invent".

I think we'd all do better to ignore our TV, radio, and print media and rely on the good old Internet.

The fact of the matter is that the ultra-conservatives have some real issues to cover up and they find that by attacking and accusing "liberals" of the same thing that they are doing, they can avoid responsibility.

Well, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi I hate on voting record, liberal ideals, and specifically Harry Reid for his comment on the war being lost.

I also don't support many liberal ideas, like universal healthcare, partial birth abortion, gay rights, and unregulated immigration. So that kind of puts me at odds with almost any democrat, except maybe the Blue Dogs.

Well, I for one do not want to have to sell my house because I get taxed so hard I can no longer afford it.

Nor do I agree with the conspiracy theorist or professional speculators and finger pointers.

Worst of all is the communist ideologies.

And no, only a small % of conservatives are strongly religious
