I mean really, if we aided mexico's poor like Africa, wouldn't there be less migration? If we helped poor there garner skills and education, then less would cross the border. I would rather American Idol gives to Mexico insted.

Mexico has a GDP of nearly $10,000 per person while poor African countries it is about $1000. If you have a fix amount of aid to give, for example one or two hundred dollars per person, you could have a real effect in Africa, but it would hardly be noticed in Mexico. To make a difference in Mexico actions that improve their economy are needed. This was the justification for NAFTA, but it has not had the positive effects that was hoped for.
