well my rabbit died today(he was 4 weeks old) and i think he was sick. this morning when i checked up on him he was really weak and not his usual self(he used to be very active). so i touched his ears-very cold. then suddenly his body started shaking and his head was kinda tilt to the right(kinda like a broken neck-but Not a broken neck of course, if u know what i mean) then his eyes suddenly appeared dark and downside up. and a few moments later he died. it was too late to take him to the vet. this is not the first time this had happened. i had another rabbit died the same way last year. so if anybody knows what happened or what causes this, please explain. i thank you in advance.

Sorry to hear this happened.

It sounds very much like your bunny may have had e. cuniculi. This is a parasite of rabbits that attacks the brain and causes the head tilt you described.

E cuniculi is treatable with de-wormer and antibiotics if caught in time, but rabbits do often die from it. It is preventable by use of wormers - Panacur paste for rabbits is available from your vets.

Don't feel bad, as not many people know that rabbits need to be wormed. Now you know, you can keep your other rabbits wormed to prevent this from happening

well 4 weeks old is to early to be taken from its mom. it should be at least 8 weeks it might be where you kept them... what in the air, what type of stuff you use near them, what you clean their cage with, what bedding you use.... really anything but next time you get a bunny make sure that it is at least 8 weeks old :)

the only way to know would be to take your rabbits remains to the vet for necropsy. i would get rid of all rabbit stuff and start new, just in case of contamination. i'm so sorry for your loss.

Check what you feed it and destroy all the things that made contact with your rabbits ex. there cage, bowls
