i need to make a payment to an individual who has an account at a different bank. if i do it through the bank they said they charge a fee of 30£ but apparentrly through internet banking it's free. has anyone done this? is it ok if it's not the same bank and is it really free because the information on the bank's site doesn't say anything about charges.
Thank you

I can definitely answer this question. I think you are talking about LloydsTSB online banking.

It is free and very easy to send money to other accounts at other British banks using online banking. There is a daily limit of 10,000 GBP and there is no charge. You will need to register your LloydsTSB account for online banking if you haven't done this already. The transfer of funds will be complete in 4 working days.

If you do a bank transfer in a LloydsTSB branch, they will charge you an exhorbitant 20 GBP. In the past, this was free.

I know what I'm talking about here.

Their website is http://www.lloydstsb.com

Hi Lexie,

Pay a person, Payanyone, these services are industry standards. All you need it the persons BSB number, Bank State Branch (or BSB) is a unique number used to identify the bank and branch where the account is held, and their account number.

The transaction is controlled by the bank so security isn't an issue and you can transfer money to anyone in the world for free (maybe some banks charge a nominal $2.00 per month for Internet banking).

Good Luck. Rod

It should be free on the internet, using your own bank. You could also go to a branch of the bank and pay into the persons account from there, that should also be free, just like a deposit.

yes you can, and no, there aren't any charges, but you need their bank account number and sort code, and of course internet banking on your account.
