a letter of resolution was mailed to me already, what happens next after that, I dont want to consult my lawyer again, becoz I feel he just keeps on asking money from me. I want to know first how is it after that resolution before I get a new lawyer for my case.

You didn't explain your situation thoroughly enough. I need to know why your friend is suing you and for how much.

Did you bounce a check, as your subject line suggests?

It's a crime to write a check knowing full well that you don't have the money to cover the amount. And you can be sued for the amount owed if your check bounced and you didn't return the item that you purchased.

If you gave your friend a check to cash for you because you don't have a checking account, and then the check bounced, then you owe your ex-friend the money.

I don't know what your situation is because you didn't offer up the facts, but I know that if you don't settle this matter out of court, you'll probably end up in a small-claims court, depending on the amount, and your friend will have to reasonably prove that you owe money. So, I'd bring in any documentation or evidence that you have in your possession that shows you don't owe the money. Or at least come up with a good story the judge will believe.

Why don't you just write the lawyer a bad check? Haven't you learned anything?
