In reply to Dannie, the anatomy of a dolphin (eg no hands) would limit their technological abilities.

So I'm not sure that proves anything.

Just because they learn a few tricks does not mean they are intelligent like humans. Intelligent as some humans possibly but not all.

I'm surprised that such thought would ever be considered a myth! Dolphins are indeed as intelligent as humans. Their mental prowess has been proven in scientific experiments and their behavior well studied by biologists worldwide.

There have even been instances of dolphin pods adopting orphaned dolphins of a different species. We share many emotional/behavioral traits with them and, should any doubt of intelligence be claimed, it is the fault of humanity for not better understanding the way of the dolphin.

The truth is that we all are working for dolphins, we are their slaves. They have evolved mega-intelligence and have technology and power beyond our understanding. From birth, our Dolphin masters program our minds and make us believe that we are in charge. Everything that you think is real is nothing more than a Dolphin movie, a script that we follow and think is our real lives. Dolphins have no problem creating a life experience which seems real to humans. Sometimes the Dolphins take active roles in the scripts and take human form for purposes of interaction and teaching. They are diabolical creatures. They use us as their primary source of entertainment and protein. Dolphins often take human form and move freely among us, they sometimes kill us for sport.

Dolphins who have pretended to be humans - Anna Nicole Smith, David Hasselhoff, Muhamed Ali, Winston Churchill. Johnny Cash, Gandhi. and many, many more.

It can not be denied that dolphins are very intelligent creatures. They have an ability to adapt to situations before many other species of animals. However, they are not the smartest animals in the world. The other animals that are said to be smarter than the dolphin are chimpanzees, humans, etc.

Hope that this helps,

It's a romantic myth that dolphins are as intelligent as humans. The reality is, that they are not. They are the ones jumping through hoops for our entertainment. They do, however, share some traits with humans. The males have been known to keep females against their will for a long time, and have sex purely for pleasure. Perhaps this is a sign of selfishness, greed, the need to procreate, who knows?
Are they intelligent? Absolutely.
Are they as intelligent as humans? No.
There was no need for them to be more intelligent, they needed speed and to be more intelligent than sharks and other natural predators. Early man had to outwit other hominids for food, be smarter than predators, and, importantly, adapt his environment to suit himself, such as build shelters, make fire, use tools etc. The Dolphin did not need to adapt its environment, it could not. So the pressure to develop intelligence was not as great as in hominids.

So you're saying we are more intelligent? The only race of beings on the planet totally dedicated to their own destruction, every few years finding better ways of beating each other over the head, thats real intelligent. Why do we step in dog-crap? Why do we forget things? If we are so intelligent?? Intelligence has nothing to do with anatomics. Yes they are, and potentially more intelligent than us, same for whales, it's just nature, genetics and the manner of science decided to put us ahead on the food chain with the right body parts.

A lot of animals are a lot more intelligent than people like to believe. If this idea were accepted more people would feel uncomfortable about eating them! Same as "do animals have souls"--saying "no" means you're not going to have to answer for how you treat them...

I'd heard that the US Navy took some of those dolphins they train to detect mines to the Gulf. When released, they all b uggered off! Not daft, anyway.

If they are as intelligent as humans why do they not have any underwater cities?

In reply - OK that's understandable, but if they're so intelligent why can't they recongise dangerous species like Sharks & humans & get themselfs caught & eaten?
