Autism is not something you can simply cure. It is more of a disability you must learn to live with and overcome, much like a person with cerebral palsy. Without knowing the circumstances behind why you cannot seem to hold a job or a girlfriend, I cannot be of much help in trying to help you re-train yourself, which is ultimately what must happen. Your best bet in the job fiel would be to find something that you intensely focus on and like that will offer you the ability to either work alone or in tandem with a "buddy". And often, people with aspberger's or other ASD's have a high level of intelligence, some bordering on genius. It is simply a matter of learning where you fit in best and going with it. With people who do not suffer with ASD's it is hard to understand the difficulties you have with getting simple concepts like facial expressions, gestures, teasing, perception of personal space, etc. If you are to acheive a long term relationship either as a friend or boyfriend and hopefully husband, then the people you wish to be close with should know what they are dealing with and have a chance to read about your disorder enough to understand and have more patience.

Sorry if I was rude before. There are so many wiseguys on here--I thought you were one of them.
My late mother worked in the mental health field for 20 years, mostly with autistic children, so what little I know of the subject comes from her.
You don't mention what therapy you're getting, if any, but from what I understand, a lot of progress has been made with a combination of cognitive therapy, behavior modification, and drug regimens. I'm sure you know more about this than I but have you investigated every avenue of treatment?
It's more difficult to address your job situation without knowing you. I'm aware that autism and Asperger's sometimes involve physical difficulties but you seem like an intelligent man--I would think that if you search your heart and do an honest self-assessment, you could find something you're passionate about and make a career of it.
As for the girlfriend problem, I can't help you at all. Everybody has trouble with that one.
Best of luck to you.
