I am a keen hockey player and i'm pretty intense. I love it but i got my period at the start of this year. The season just started up again and i had my period on the first game. My periods are quite heavy. I used a pad coz I've never used a tampon before and hockey's quite long. By the time we get home i would've had it in for about 4 hours. When I used a pad it was quite uncomfortable to run in and it rubbed against my legs which now have a slight rash on them. The pad didn't really catch all the blood, which was really annoying. Also, we do quite a lot of PE at my school which is basically gymnastics and stuff it's really hard to do with a pad on. I'm just wondering what I should do? Pads or tampons? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Try using tampons. I remember being really nervous the first time. Buy Tampax Mini, as they're designed for teenagers. Don't use it for the first time at school - do it at home, where you'll be more relaxed. Read the instructions carefully before you try them out, then lock the bathroom door when your ready to put it in. Remember to relax - they can hurt the first time you use one and if this happens, don't worry, try another day. Only try tampons when you're on your period. Good luck sweetie

Tampons would be best. You could have it in up to 6 hours, just change it immediately before and after the game.
