Core2duo is a an architecture based on the old P3 architecture. Shorter pipelines but faster overall performance at lower speeds. You can indeed run the game just as long as you have a decent GPU in the laptop. Otherwise, you'll be stuck with playing old games that can run on lower end GPUs.

If the processor speed is 3.0 GHz or more, it can run the game. In your case, it's only 2.0 GHz, so it's 1 GHz short of the requirement. It cant run the game, though, but only if the minimum system requirement is 2 GHz (minimum is different from recommended).

Core 2 Duo processors utilize dual-core processor technology, having 2 processor chips in one package. This type of processor can handle multiple processes easily, making it perfect for multitasking, but not necessarily games. A processor with HT (Hyper-Threading) technology is better at handling modern games.

Also check the graphics requirement of the game. If you're not aware of that, the game still will not run if you have the best processor but the wrong graphics card.

I will enlighten you. Core 2 duo are the newest Intel processors. They are dual cored based on the new core architecture and are suitable for multitasking or games. And note that 3.0 ghz on a pentium 4 not a core 2 duo, babe.......

Core2 Duo processors are high performance ones even at lower clock speed because they do more per clock cycle.

Now when it comes to gaming, performance would mostly depend on the video card. Powerful cards are mostly for desktops. Good video cards such as the Geforce Go 7xxx series are now available for laptops. Make sure you have one of these, otherwise your laptop will be miserable in games even if it has top notch processor.

core 2 duo is two processors processing the data, effectively splitting the data in halves, in your case your processing speed would be equivalent to a single 4.0 Ghz processor, so yes go ahead with that game, good luck....
