I got halfway through writting this last night, then got up to do something, and forgot about it...Sorry!

Yep you can do this, ignore anyone that says it isnt safe. The bleeding you get on the pill isnt even a period, check out this link to a question I answered about this a while ago.

The pill that works best for skipping periods is a full strength monophasic pill (all pills contains the same hormones in the same amount).
All you need to do is not take the sugar/placebo pills. Just take the hormone pills everyday, without a break. You may still need liners as some women expirience spotting in the first few cycles of doing this, but you wont get a period.
It is easy and safe, I have been doing it for several years, as my periods were ten days of hell.
Check out this link, its from the Mayo Clinic, a medical organisation respected for decades.

Good luck and happy holidays!

Even if you go on the pill and skip your placebo pack you could still have your period then, OR you could breakthrough bleed. THEN who knows when your system will regulate.

I tried that in Aug '06 and it took a few months to get my cycle regulated with my pills. I would never do that again.

The pill won't stop you from having your period, but it will definitely make it lighter and help with the cramping. There is a new pill that makes it so you only have your period every three months, but I am blanking on the name. It still would take your body a few months to get completely used to it. Best thing to do is ask your doctor. Good luck!

If your dr says it's ok you can skip the placebo pills (the ones that are the sugar or what they call reminder pills for the last week of the pack) to delay your period during your vacation.

To do this you just take the hormone only pills in every pack and skip the placebo pills.
