The private lives of leaders/candidates are not very important, mainly because it's very difficult to verify any allegetions made about a person's private life.

It's more important to look at a person's past public and business life, where his/her performance can be objectively judged. You can see if he's misled people before, you can see if he has always shown the qualities and honesty or not.

Essentially every single person who runs for national politics has no integrity and is very dishonest. These people get their jobs (or the campaign contributions needed to get those jobs) because they have certain qualities: being good at misleading people and for being able to hurt masses of people just to help those who contribute to their campaigns.

Instead of focusing on that, the media distracts us with gossip and bs about these peoples' private lives.
