If this happens often - you might want to consider putting a no solicitation sign by your doorbell. They are not allowed to ring your doorbell if you have that sign posted. The sign will do the talking - and they will do the walking.
This sign also applies to Jehovah Witness types as well. If this sign is posted and they ring the bell they are trespassing and most likely they all are aware of the law - you are not allowed to ring the bell if the sign is present.

Whenever they knock on your door, don't open it...just knock back. Try to mimic their volume and cadence. When they get angry and leave, pound frantically...sometimes they come back and you can begin Round 2.

tell them my parents arent home(or say i dont make that kind of decision). its easier over the phone because you can just hang up on them. but yah..annoying!!
