If (by blue cable) you mean the ethernet connection cable then no you don't.

You will need to establish a network connection between your laptop and your router.

Your router will also need to be wired into your broadband source

The wireless part is from the router to your laptop. You need the WAN (Wide Area Network) plugged into the router so that it can interface the net and broadcast to your laptop on the LAN (Local Area Network). Did you know that a wired laptop can send/receive at 100 mbps and wireless 10 mbps? So you'll be more free with your laptop, but slower in the Internet, especially when transferring data.
Question, why did you install a router? Was it just to have a wireless connection? Or are you going to use the rest of the routers capabilities? A router will afford you a hard wired front door as opposet to a software front door provided by some access points. verry different stuff.

Well, if you setup everything properly, then you should be able to see an icon down by the clock that looks like a computer with radio waves. Just right click on that and choose "View available Networks" and locate yours (should be the one with the strongest signal stregnth) and click connect. You can remove the blue CAT5 cable from your laptop. However, if you tend to work close to where your router is, you migh as well use the cable as it will be more reliable and faster then the wireless connection.

You should keep it. You may need it if you want another wired PC or laptop on your network.
