is marriage a rule for leaders in india. vajpayee never married too. may be they beleived that they can battle it out for what they believe without a family. Family means attachment, may be you may want to pass on your power to the family, bachelors can be most unselfish.

When asked why he wasn’t married he replied that marriage and children will lead selfishness towards life and he don’t wanted to be selfish at any cost in life as he dedicated his life for serving the nation.

He was honest to the core and decided that marriage and children might be a hindrance to his principles and dedication. He wanted zero corruption in his life and the only way to achieve this is by eliminating all possible sources of corruption. Also, the fact that he is a Muslim has made him extremely cautious and he wanted to stay away from this community as much as possible. This is the best way for Muslim youths also to follow and live in India, so that nobody can blame them for producing children. But great scientists like Einstein and Newton lived a normal life and had active love affairs, sex, marriage and children

Hi! Kichha.... Indian president Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam didn't married because of his intention to do some help to country. In his autobiography, he quoted these lines " I have kept nothing with me.... neither wife nor children and earthly possessions".

Wise guys I think- they know the pitfalls?
Or they were too shy?
Or had no time for other side of life?
In politics or public life some time it is better to remain single.
I think it is more due to personal reasons and let us leave at that.

He has not married because of his profession. He has to do lot of work for the nation and he want to devote the whole life to nation.
