Can the browns compete this year with their new quarterback and more steak and potatoes on the O-line?

No. The Browns are still a couple years away from being a playoff team because they still have too many holes. They had an OUTSTANDING draft which will help them win more games this year, they might even make it to 8-8, but in their division, even making it to 8-8 is going to be tough. If they keep drafting as well as they did this yearand spend wisely in the free agent market, they will be a powerhouse in a few years.

2 questions here.

1st question can he lead them to the playoffs. Probably not, if Edwards can step up and be a better reciever and Lewis can run the ball like he did a few years ago the probably not turns into a maybe.

2nd question can the browns compete this year with him and the new line. Yes, just dont get your hopes up too high. They have improved much over the off season, and that will help. If I remember right they lost around 8 games last year by 8 points or less, Lewis and the new "steak and potatoes" as you call them should help that out immensely.

without question, Brady Quinn is a experienced quarterback. besides the shown fact that, the Browns will could desire to get previous Pittsburgh of their branch and New England (with a healthful Tom Brady) and in all possibility Indianapolis interior the AFC in the previous they could make it to the large Bowl. reckoning on what happens in the process the low season (draft, trades, loose corporation) the playoffs may well be plausible.

Unfortunately for the Browns, a good offense cannot make a team great. They have too many weaknesses even if everything went right for Quinn. He has not shown he is the calibre of QB to lead an NFL team to greatness in his first year. Especially when that team doesn't have all the guns to go with him. The Browns must get to a .500 record first.

Hell No they don't have the talent yet. They have a little talent but they don't have great talent to compete yet. Maybe in a few years. The Raiders should do better than the browns they Have more talent and a better defense and Even though they traded Moss they got a steal in the WR Higgins out of UTEP.
Oh Yeah they Drafted a stud at Quarterback name Russ. They Rollin with Russ watch out for the Raiders.

Quinn will be a great NFL QB im not saying he will be the next brett favre but he will be good. However he will not beable to lead the browns to the playoffs his first year. if the Browns pick up some good defense and the offense matures as well as i think they will i bet they will be a decent team.

Brady Quinn is a so-so quarterback. He will be a rookie with a huge learning curve. There is a reason he dropped like a led balloon in the draft.

Not a chance.

Why? Because of the age old rule: ALL ROOKIE QUARTERBACKS STRUGGLE. With the exception of Dan Marino, there hasn't been a QB in recent memory who as really showed that he can carry a team to the next step in his first year.

Vince Young struggled, so did Matt Leinart, Jay Cutler, Eli Manning is still struggling...hell if, Peyton Manning struggled in his first year (yeah, so he threw 3600+ yards and 26 TDS)..then Quinn will too.

I hate to agree with JAR, but I have to in some respects.

Brady couldn't come close to leading a decent Irish team to a National title, how is he single-handedly going to resurrect the Browns? They need more than a slightly above-average college quarterback to come back.

No! He will ride the pine, and the Browns will be lucky to be a .500 team this season (even if Quinn performed like Peyton Manning...). Quinn is overrated and will crumble when he is put under pressure. Look up Ryan Leaf-- pretty soon Quinn's picture will be next to his.
